Happy New Year to all! 2016 was a stellar year for us and we have some big plans for this year! Here are some updates for our programs:
- Computer donations, sales, and placements: Last year, we were able to provide projectors for Valor Christian School, and many other pieces of technology. We provided a computer lab to a school in Jamaica, and sold the remaining on eBay. Our sales numbers were less than the previous year, but our placement of technology increased. We will continue with this program throughout 2017, so feel free to contact us with any technology donations or needs you may have.
- TechBox: We began preliminary work on an Android-based curriculum to be shared first with NCompass in Haiti later this month as a beta-test, then with our other partners within the coming months. We have amassed several free and inexpensive educational resources for our partners to share with their communitiies. We look forward to seeing the results of the beta testing to help us with the direction of our programs moving forward!
- TechTent: Washington County asked us to be a part of their county fair this summer, so make sure and visit our booth this July (the 27-30)! We will have our 3D printers, tablets, and other technology with us! We are also working out the details to be at the Corvallis/Albany farmers markets and the Bull Mt. Farmers market in Tigard. These are part of our community outreach programs where anyone can get free advice or education on their technology, or even a free repair if we are able! If you are interested in volunteering with us at the fair or at one of these markets, reach out to our volunteer coordinator at email@example.com.
- 3D printing: Thanks to our board member Joe, we are going to provide 3D printing education to our community starting this month. Stay tuned for details and get in touch if you would like a chance for your students or community to learn about 3D printing!
As you can tell, we are geared up and ready to take on the challenges of 2017! We hope to bring to the community wisdom in the field of technology, as well as a little bit of fun in the learning process. We are full of knowledge and wish to share it! Let us know if you want to be involved or if you have ideas on how we can get the community engaged in our mission. Cheers to 2017!
