Spring is here! What are you doing this weekend?

This past weekend was our first ever guest appearance in Corvallis, Oregon. We were able to snag a booth thanks to @Corvallis-Albany Farmers’ Markets group. Our goal last weekend was to create awareness for Nerds Abroad research community needs in the technology education arena. We were able to talk with lots of community members, give out business cards and resources, while also being able to enjoy the other vendor booths as well.

This upcoming weekend is the Earth Day celebration in Albany, Oregon. Nerds Abroad will have a booth because we believe in proper recycling and restoration of old technology. While some may say this is a dying field because of the increasing amount of new technology that rolls out every year, we believe that nothing is fully broken and unusable. We have been able to recycle many types of technology and regift or repurpose each piece to local nonprofits who need it. We want to continue serving nonprofits and startups around Oregon and participating in these markets are a great way to meet people and have a conversation with them.

Our biggest draw in for our booth last weekend was our newest Nerd mascot, Bear. He adored all the petting and “ooh’s and ahh’s,” that came his way and we appreciated the opportunity to say hello. Go ahead and fall for the cute face, and while you’re at it say hello this Saturday, April 22nd at the Albany Farmer’s Market on 4th Ave downtown.

We will also be at Potbelly Sandwich shop in Lake Oswego, Oregon on Friday, April 21st doing a fundraiser to support our Techbox curriculum. Come out and enjoy a sandwich with us! It’s an open house from 4-9pm.
